I've registered, so how long does it take to recieve my confirmation email?
The confirmation email is virtually instantaneous. If you haven't received it, it may be because you have entered it incorrectly, or it is being stopped by some form of anti-spam protection. If you think there may be a problem, please send an email to accounts@imposeonline.com with your first and last name, and the email address you used to register, and we will activate your account manually.
What happens to my uploaded pdf file after it is imposed?
Your original pdf file is automatically deleted from our system as soon as it is imposed. Your imposed pdf is deleted 24 hours after you impose it. This provides ample opportunity for you to download the file before it is deleted. We do not provide a backup service, so please don't ask us to retrieve one of your uploaded files if you accidentally delete it.
My document imposed, but some of the pages haven't come out. Why?
Assuming that you have double checked your imposition layout, and everything is correct, but you are still getting some unexpected blank pages, this may be a memory issue. The Impose Online hosting provider has some very strict memory restrictions. As a result, some larger documents can require more memory than is available, which will result in incomplete impositions. Where possible, you can try splitting your document and imposing it in batches, or you can try our mirror site. The mirror site is quite slow, but doesn't have the same memory restrictions. It's not very reliable, but may get you out of a bind if you are desperate.
Why doesn’t Impose online have the imposition layout I need?
Impose online is a new service. We will be adding imposition layouts and extra features over time. If you have a particular layout or feature that you require, visit our contacts page and let us know. We are very keen to build the best possible service for you.
What sort of layout should I be using?
Impose online is a tool for imposing PDF documents, but it is not a facility for teaching the finer points of the imposition process. The Wikipedia entry may assist you if you are trying to learn what impositions are for and whey they are needed.
Why do I get an “Incompatible PDF version” error when I upload my pdf?
Impose online does not accept some pdfs later than version 1.4 (Acrobat version 5). You can re-save pdfs from newer versions into 1.4 with Adobe Acrobat Professional for use with Impose online.
I have a fast internet connection—why is it so slow to upload my pdf?
Many home broadband internet connections have very fast download speeds, but quite slow upload speeds. This is because downloading is typically the most common transfer direction. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do about this as we can't control the speed of your internet connection. A 20Mb file can take over 10 minutes on a standard 256kb/s connection.
How much will it cost for me to use Impose online?
